1.
The Club shall be called ‘LEISURE
GOLF CLUB”
2.
COMMITTEES
a)
Development Committee.
i)
The development committee shall consist of the Chief Executive
Officer (leisure Lodge ltd.), the Chief Accountant (Leisure Lodge ltd.),
the captain, the vice-captain, ladies captain, the Club Manager (leisure
Lodge ltd.), the Course Superintendent (leisure Lodge Ltd.), the Golf
pro and the Golf Consultant.
ii)
The committee shall be responsible for all maters of finance,
employment, legal matters, long-term planning, maintenance and security
of company assets, membership fees, green fees, caddy fees, club house
services, elections, disciplinary action, policies on societies and
visitors and course maintenance.
iii)
The captain, vice-captain and Lady captain shall retire each year
but will immediately be eligible for re-election if necessary (BYELAW
3).
iv)
Decisions shall be made based on the majority vote of those
present. At least 5 members must be present including either The
Captain, Vice-Captain or Lady Captain.
v)
The committee shall meet once per calendar month.
b)
Club Committee
i)
The Club committee shall consist of the Captain, vice-captain,
lady captain, Club Manager (leisure Lodge), the golf pro and three full
members of the Club.
ii)
The committee shall be responsible for the organization of
competitions, social activities, sub-committees, rules and etiquette,
and monitoring the facilities at the club.
The Development committee may, if necessary, refer complaints
that require disciplinary action to the Club committee.
iii)
Decisions shall be made based on the majority vote of those
present.
iv)
The committee shall meet at least once per calendar month or
before major competitions.
c)
The Development Committee and the Club Committee shall be
responsible for recruiting new members and finding sponsors for
competitions.
d)
Sub-Committees
i)
The Handicapping Committee shall consist of the handicapping
committee chairman (a full member of the club), the club pro, the Club
Manager and one other member of the club.
ii)
Handicapping shall be done as per the Kenya Golf Union
handicapping system.
iii)
The handicapping committee shall meet once per month or as
directed by the Club Committee.
3.
COMMITTEE MEMBER ELECTIONS
i)
The positions of Captain, Vice-Captain and Lady captain shall be
subject to a vote by the members when necessary.
ii)
All other committee members shall be appointments of the
Development Committee and shall be for a period of one year.
iii)
The Vice-Captain shall become the Captain subject to the approval
of the Development Committee and Club Committee.
iv)
In the event of new elections for the Captain, Vice-Captain or
Lady captain, nominations for an individual must be made in writing to
the Club Manager from at least two club members.
In the event of only one candidate being proposed, by a
pre-determined date, that candidate shall automatically take office.
v)
The Captain must endorse nominations for the position of
Vice-Captain.
vi)
In the event of more than one candidate for the position of
Captain, Vice-Captain or Lady Captain, elections shall be held by secret
ballot.
4.
MEMBERSHIPS
i)
Adult or couple memberships shall be available for periods of 6
months or 12 months.
ii)
Up-country membership shall be available for a 12-month period
only. Only full time
residents of Kenya living outside a 50km radius of the club are eligible
for up-country membership.
iii)
Full members of other Coastal clubs may obtain 6 month or 12
month adult or couple ‘coast golfer’ membership at a discounted
rate, provided they live outside a 20km radius of Leisure Golf Club.
iv)
If a membership is being renewed it must be done within 10 days
of expiry or access to the course may be denied until payment is
received.
v)
Memberships will run from the date of payment for the specified
period. Membership cards
will be issued within 10 days.
vi)
All memberships are subject to approval by the Chairman or the
Club Manager.
vii)
Couple’s membership is only available to those who are married
or living together permanently.
viii)
Six-month members may transfer to 12 months membership on payment
of the difference between the two amounts.
ix)
Only 12-month members will have voting rights. Upcountry members,
6-month members, junior members and Coast golfer members have no voting
rights.
x)
The Development Committee may fix the appropriate membership
fees. Membership fees shall
be reviewed in January and July each year.
Notice of a change in membership fees shall be posted on the club
notice board 14 days before such change comes into force.
xi)
There can be no refund of membership money paid in cases of
injury, illness, suspension or expulsion from the Club, or leaving the
country or local area.
xii)
Membership cards remain the property of the Club and must be
returned if membership is not renewed.
xiii)
Honorary life memberships may only be rewarded by unanimous
decision of the development committee.
5.
CREDIT FACILITIES
i)
Only 12-month members can apply for credit facilities.
ii)
Application must be done in writing to the Financial Controller,
Leisure Lodge Beach and Golf Resort.
iii)
Monthly bills shall be sent to members within 15 days of the end
of each month. All accounts
must be paid within 30 days of the end of the month.
iv)
Failure to clear amounts owed after 30 days shall result in
credit facilities being suspended and the member’s name posted.
Failure to clear the account with 60 days will result in
suspension of membership until the account is cleared.
6.
VISITORS (not being
guest of members)
i)
Visitors are those persons who are not introduced by a member as
a guest.
ii)
Visitors may not enter the course without full payment of the
appropriate green fee. Discounts
on green fees can only be obtained from the Chief Executive Officer
(leisure Lodge Ltd.).
iii)
The management reserves the right of entry for visitors using the
bar facilities.
iv)
The Development Committee may, from time to time, fix appropriate
visitors fees to be charged for the use of facilities at the club.
7.
GUESTS OF MEMBERS
i)
Guests of 12-month adult members shall pay 50% of the visitors
fees referred to in byelaw 6.
ii)
Guests must always play in the same group as the member who has
invited them.
iii)
Members may only sign in one guest per game of golf.
iv)
The Captain, vice-captain, lady captain and other committee
members may sign in one guest per month who will be exempted from
payment of fees.
v)
6-month members and junior members may not sign in guests.
8.
RECIPROCATING MEMBERS
i)
All members of reciprocating clubs shall be entitled to enjoy the
amenities subject to the reciprocation agreement with the club that
holds their membership.
ii)
Any person who has been expelled from his/her club will not be
entitled to reciprocation.
iii)
The development committee may decide to enter into reciprocation
agreements, which they think will be beneficial to the members.
9.
CHILDREN (under 18
years of age)
i)
Children under the age of 10 are not allowed to use the
facilities unless accompanied by an adult or instructor.
ii)
Children under the age of 10 are at no time allowed into the main
bar and are restricted to the terrace and the verandah.
iii)
Children over the age of 10 and under the age of 18 may use the
pool table until 7.00pm after which time permission must be obtained
from the manager or committee member present.
iv)
No person under the age of 18 years may consume alcoholic
beverages on the Club premises.
10.
CLUB STAFF AND CADDIES
i)
Tipping of club staff is allowed at the members or visitor
discretion.
ii)
Members will be asked to voluntarily contribute to a staff party
to be held once per year.
iii)
No member should purposely seek to employ a serving member of
staff without that member of staff giving proper notice to the Club
Manager or Chief Executive Officer (Leisure Lodge Ltd.)
iv)
Caddies must be engaged and paid by all people playing the
course. The minimum fee
which caddies must be paid shall be decided upon by the Development
Committee and contained in a notice posted on the club notice board.
Changes in the caddy fee will be posted on the club notice board
14 days before such change shall come into force.
v)
The club is in no way responsible for the payment of caddies.
vi)
Club staff cannot make telephone calls on behalf of members to
other Golf Clubs, individuals or companies without prior permission of
the manager.
11.
ETIQUETTE AND DRESS
i)
Members, guests and visitors are expected to behave and dress in
a manner that will not cause offence or embarrassment to others.
ii)
Members, guests and visitors playing on the golf course must
follow the dress code as per the club notice board.
12.
COMPLAINTS
i)
All complaints must be made in writing to the club manager who
will if necessary refer the complaint to the Club Committee or
Development Committee. In
this case, the decision of the committee will be final (as per bye-law
14 (v).)
ii)
Under no circumstances may a staff member be reprimanded directly
by a member.
iii)
Complaints concerning behavior on the course must be made in
writing to the Club Manager
13.
CLUB PROPERTY
i)
A member damaging any property of the club on purpose shall be
liable to pay for or replace items damaged.
Provided the damage was accidental the committee may, at its own
discretion, waive the whole or part of the cost.
ii)
No member may remove any item of club property without the
written permission of the club manager.
14.
DISCIPLINARY ACTION
i)
The development Committee and the club committee have the power
to expel, or suspend any member for such period as the committees think
fit.
ii)
Any member who violates any rule or bye-law or whose conduct
shall be such in the opinion of the committee to be injurious to the
character or interest of the club will be subject to disciplinary
action.
iii)
Before such powers will be exercised, it shall be necessary that
written notice, signed by a member or the Club Manager, be sent to the
Chief Executive Officer (Leisure Lodge Ltd.) informing him of the
circumstances surrounding the act or acts of the member against whom the
complaint is being made. The
CEO shall call a meeting of the development committee, or pass the
complaint to the club committee, to consider this notice.
iv)
If no action is taken, those who made the complaint will be
informed in writing of the reasons the complaint does not warrant
action.
v)
If action is taken then the person against who the complaint has
been made will be sent a letter informing them of the disciplinary
action. The member will
have seven days to appeal the decision of the committee in writing.
After fourteen days the decision of the Committee is final.
15.
PETS
i)
Pets are not allowed in the clubhouse or on the golf course at
any time.
16.
MOBILE PHONES
i) Mobile phones are banned from ringing on the course at all times
and should be set on silent ringing mode.
Mobile phones are banned completely from the course during
competitions.
ii)
Mobile phones may only be used outside the clubhouse (which
includes the terrace and veranda).
17.
MEMBERS’ ADDRESSES
i)
Members must inform the Club Manager in writing of their address
for delivery of correspondence. Members
may request for all correspondence to be delivered via the Club
reception.
ii)
Correspondence sent to members addresses or left at the reception
for collection, depending on what the member has requested, will be
considered duly delivered 14 clear days after being sent by post or
placed at reception for collection.
18.
BYE-LAWS
i)
The Development Committee has the power to make, alter and repeal
Bye-laws as they see necessary for the well being of the club.
ii)
A notice of any new bye-law, or repeal or alteration of an
existing Bye-law, shall be posted on the club house notice board 14 days
before the day on which such new Bye-law, repeal or alteration shall
come into force.
19.
REGISTRATION
i)
All members, guests and visitors must sign the registration book
before playing.
ii)
Guests and visitors must also sign the visitor’s book before
playing.
iii)
By signing the registration book members, guests, or visitors
absolves the Club of any liability for loss/damage and/or injury however
caused.
iv)
Members, guests and visitors must follow the instructions of the
starter at registration.
20.
SUGGESTION BOOK
i) All suggestions shall be entered in the suggestion book at
reception and signed by a member. Complaints must be made in writing to
the Club Manager.
21.
CAR PARKING
i) Cars may only be parked in the areas designated or appointed for
car parking and so as not to cause an obstruction to other cars or to
the approaches to the Club House.
ii)
No cars are allowed on the course without prior permission of the
Club manager and must remain on the paths at all times.
22.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR
PROPERTY AND ACCIDENTS
i) The club accepts no responsibility for any property of any nature
of members or visitors left in lockers, in the dressing room, in the car
parking areas or anywhere else on the club premises including the Golf
Course. All property is bought or left at owner’s sole risk.
ii)
The Club will not be responsible for any accident or injury
occurring to a member or visitor by reason of negligence or otherwise
whilst on the club premises including the Golf Course.
23.
CLUBHOUSE
i)
Members may, at the discretion of the committee, use the club for
specific functions provided application is made in writing to the Club
Manager at least 14 days before the function.
ii)
No Beverages can be brought from outside the club premises and
consumed on the premises without paying the correct corkage, as
established by the Club Manager.
iii)
No paper, notice or placard, written or printed, shall be put up
in the Club House without the sanction of the Club Manager.
iv)
Any member who defaces in any way a paper, notice or placard put
up in the Club house will face disciplinary action.
v)
All expenses incurred by members and visitors shall be paid by
them before leaving the Club premises.
Members who have credit facilities must sign for their drink or
meal, when the drink or meal is delivered to their table or ordered from
the Bar.
24.
CLUB NIGHT AND
COMPETITIONS
i)
Club night shall be on Wednesdays from 1.00pm.
ii) Any member may bring a guest to play in Club night provided the
guest pays the guest entry fee which shall be three times the entry fee
for members.
iii)
Members of coastal Golf Clubs may also participate in Club night
provided they pay the guest entry fee.
iv)
Notice and entry forms for competitions will be posted on the
club notice board at least 10 days before the competition date.
v)
Members or visitors who fail to show for a competition, without
informing the Captain or Club manager at least 2 hours before their
t-off time, will be fined three times the entry fee. Visitors will also be banned from future competitions for two
months.
vi)
Members or visitors who are late at the tee during competitions
will have a two-stroke penalty.
vii)
On competition days the course may be closed to non-competitors
for such periods as the Club Committee decides.
viii)
Winners not present at prize giving will forfeit their prize.
25.
Ammendments
i)
Palm fonds and
coconuts may be removed from any part of the course if they obstructing
a players golf shot.
ii)
Players using golf carts must be accompanied by at least 1 caddy at all
times.
